A Few of God's Favorite Things

So the other night I was babysitting a precious 4 year old girl named Ruby. She is so incredibly smart and creative. We were sitting at the table while she ate her snack before bed and she started sharing with me what she thought God's favorite things were (very matter of factly).

Here is what she came up with:

Favorite Drink: Chocolate Soy Milk
Favorite Animal: Giraffe - "because they're big like him."
Favorite snack: Fruits and veggies, esp. "Canti'mulope". He doesn't eat sugar unless it comes from fruit.
Favorite Yogurt: Vanilla - "because it is just so good"

This went on for about 20 minutes - with a bathroom break of course. She returned from the potty saying "Lets talk some more about The King of Kings and The Lord of Lords".

SO CUTE!!!!

Books

Hey Everyone!!!!!

So I was just writing because I am starting to build my classroom library for my future classroom. I was wondering if any of you decide to get rid of any children’s books if you wouldn’t mind offering them to me. Also, if you know of anyone else getting rid of books if you could pass my info on to them. That would be fabulous too. Or if know any teachers that might be retiring or deciding to no longer teach that would be an amazing contact for me.

My certification will be Early Education through sixth grade. Any books would be helpful. The condition does not matter to me. Obviously use your best judgment, but even if the book has a few rips I can repair that.

Thank you all so much!! :)

DIVAS

So I was watching Divas Live on VH1 tonight and heard this song and thought it was really good. Thought I'd share. I hope the next generation of girls grow up thinking this way.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHXEE7Pi6iQ

Lyrics:
Sometimes I shave my legs and sometimes I don't
Sometimes I comb my hair and sometimes I won't
Dependin' on how the wind blows, I might even paint my toes
It really just depends on whatever feels good in my soul
[chorus]
I'm not the average girl from your video
And I ain't built like a supermodel
But I've learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I'm not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I'm wearing I will always be
India.Arie
When I look in the mirror, the only one there is me
Every freckle on my face is where it's supposed to be
And I know my Creator didn't make no mistakes on me
My feet, my thighs, my lips, my eyes, I'm loving what I see
[chorus]
Am I less of a lady if I don't wear panty hose
My mama said, "A lady ain't what she wears, but what she knows"
But I've drawn the conclusion, it's all an illusion
Confusion's the name of the game
A misconception, a vast deception
Something's got to change
Don't be offended, this is all my opinion
Ain't nothing that I'm saying law
This is a true confession of a life learned lesson
I was sent here to share with y'all
So get in where you fit, and go on and shine
Clear your mind, now's the time
Put your salt on the shelf
Go on and love yourself
Cause everything is gonna be alright
[chorus]
Keep your fancy drinks and your expensive minks
I don't need that to have a good time
Keep your expensive cars and your caviar
All I need is my guitar
Keep your Cristal and your pistol
I'd rather have a pretty piece of crystal
Don't need your silicone, I prefer my own
What God gave me is just fine
[chorus]

The New Edition

So here is the new edition to our family. His name is Chaz! He just turned a year old. He is so adorable and sweet. This is him with in the first hour of being home. He carried around his food bowl everywhere he went. Speaking of everywhere, he has a big attachment to me. He follows me everywhere I go. He cries at the door when I leave. It is crazy. He's so sweet though. He is just like a little kid. We are in the middle of trying to house train him right now. Surprisingly enough he is catching on very fast. More pictures and stories to come I'm sure.

Here is one more pic of when him and Amy when we first brought him home.

10 years already

I cant believe it has been 10 years already, since the Columbine shootings. I hope that everyone will remember what happened today ten years ago and pray for our students and schools. Pray that the students will become unified and encouraging to each other. Pray for our students safety. Let this be a day to remind us spread the word and love others. I want to pray what Brandon Heath sings in his song "Give me your eyes". Its a fabulous song and it depicts what I strive for when I interact with others.
Here are the lyrics:
Look down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touch down on the cold black top
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breath in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos
All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me you heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what's underneath
There's a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He's out of work, He's buying time
All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me you heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
I’ve been here a million times
A couple of million eyes
Just move and pass me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong
Well I want a second glance
So give me a second chance
To see you the way you’ve seen the people all along
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me you heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me you heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah

Valentine's Movie Day!

So today I went and saw The Shopaholic movie. It was really funny, def a girly movie. I was a little disappointed it wasn't more like the book. I just finished the book this week so it was still fresh in my mind, so that might of impacted my experience. It was still funny! :) Tonight I babysat and we watched Space Buddies. It was cute. For sure a kid movie with the cheesy lines. But the dogs were so darn cute. I like cheesy Disney movies. Adorable!

The Shack

OK, so I totally recommend this book. Some of my friends and I read it for our book club and it was great. Its kinda mystery but what I loved about it was how it portrayed the trinity and how they work together and are one. Fantastic! The description was beautiful! I think that if you are reading just as a mystery you would be pleased, but I think that if you are reading it from a spiritual aspect it is totally powerful. Loved it!! Read it! Do it! :)

"Beautiful"?

So I was driving home last night and I was listening to the radio. Now Im not gonna lie I love the beat to a lot of hip hop/rap music. I love to dance (not that I can) so if Im in the car by myself I tend to turn my music up really loud and dance/sing. Well I was channel surfing and I came to this Akon song "beautiful". At first I was like oh this song is so sweet he just keeps saying how beautiful his girl is, BUT then I keep listening. Im just curious why male singers/rappers mix a compliment with a "potty" word. To me it losses its sweetness. As I continue with the song his attraction to this girl isnt so innocent.
Anyways, my point is I wish that they would just make some good hip hop beats with some good lyrics. :)

Prayer Please

Hello everyone! I don't know who reads this or not. Maybe no one does I have no clue, but I just wanted to ask for prayer for my family. Our dog Jake is almost 14years old and he has a lot of medical issues and over the past few days he has gotten really week and completely blind. The vet has recommended that we put him down, so we are having to do that. He is actually going to get put down on Saturday. Please pray for our family to be at peace with the decision. I know for some this might be strange but our family treats our dogs like members of the family so we were all very close with him. Thank you so much!

Seriously?

So I'm taking an online math class. Everything is online, the textbook, the homework, the quizzes, everything. Well this afternoon I log in and sit to read the chapter for the week and do all the exercises and practice quizzes.
Now for those of you who don't know me I am a perfectionist. Even if I'm not being graded on an assignment I work at it until I get every answer correct. So today was no different. So after you read everything and do all the homework then you take a quiz that shows that you know the material. I got 100 on all the assignments that went with this section so I'm not worried about the quiz.

I take the quiz and get an 83.3%.

Seriously how does that happen. 6 hours of work and 100s on all the assignments that don't count towards our grade and the one that does I get an 83. Don't get me wrong I know 83 is still alright but seriously that is a little frustrating.
